International day of the boy child
Purpose driven boys: Seen, Heard, Empowered.
On May 13, 2026, the Self discovery organization commemorated the International Day of the Boy Child with a transformative mentorship and empowerment programme held at Loyola College.
Centered on the theme “Purpose Driven Boys: Seen, Heard, Empowered,” the event brought together young boys from different backgrounds for a meaningful session focused on identity, confidence, purpose, leadership, and personal development.
In a world where boys are often expected to suppress emotions, “man up,” or navigate life without guidance, the programme created a safe and empowering environment where they could be heard, encouraged, and inspired to become responsible and purpose-driven young men.
Throughout the three-hour session, participants engaged in interactive discussions, mentorship conversations, reflective activities, and practical teachings designed to help them:
* Understand their value and identity
* Build confidence and self-esteem
* Develop leadership and communication skills
* Learn responsibility and emotional intelligence
* Begin discovering purpose early in life
One of the most impactful moments of the programme was the emphasis on self-discovery and positive identity formation. The boys were reminded that their environment does not define their future, and that every young person carries unique potential capable of influencing society positively.
The event also encouraged openness, healthy conversations, and intentional mentorship — reinforcing the importance of raising boys who are not only strong, but emotionally aware, responsible, and purpose-driven.
Speaking during the programme, representatives of the self discovery organization reiterated the organization’s commitment to healing the world of its infirmities by uniting people with a sense of purpose. They emphasized that investing in boys today is essential for building healthier families, stronger communities, and a better future.
The organization expresses heartfelt appreciation to the management of Loyola College, facilitators, volunteers, partners, and every individual who contributed to the success of the programme.
As SDO continues to champion initiatives focused on mentorship, education, leadership, and purpose discovery, this year’s International Day of the Boy Child programme stands as another reminder that when boys are seen, heard, and empowered, society becomes stronger.
