On May 28th, 2025, the Self-Discovery Organization joined the global movement to mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day with a meaningful outreach at Living Stone College, Ikorodu, Lagos. In alignment with this year’s theme, “Together for a Period-Friendly World,” the event aimed to raise awareness, provide menstrual health education, and break long-standing taboos surrounding menstruation.
The outreach focused on schoolgirls at Living Stone College, many of whom had limited access to accurate menstrual education. Through engaging interactive sessions, our team educated the students on topics such as menstrual hygiene management and safe menstruation practices.
We also facilitated open conversations to create a supportive environment where the girls could ask questions freely and share their experiences without fear or shame.
A key highlight of the event was the distribution of free sanitary products, ensuring that no girl would have to miss school or feel embarrassed because of her period. These essential supplies were both a practical resource and a powerful gesture of care and empowerment.
At the Self-Discovery Organization, we believe that empowering girls with knowledge and dignity is essential to achieving true gender equality. This celebration in Ikorodu stands as a reflection of our mission—to build a world where every girl can manage her period safely, confidently, and without stigma.
Together, we are creating a period-friendly world—one girl, one school, and one community at a time.
